Flamboyant
Our lovely young mare Diva presented us with a tall, elegant black colt by Florencio in the wee hours May 16th, 2006. Flamboyant ( barn name Felix) was 49 inches at birth with almost all of that height being legs. He has a big star and four socks. He is very friendly and outgoing. He has a beautiful head with little curly ears that almost touch.
Diva was, as usual, an old soul in a four year old body. She has been attentive and caring, yet very tolerant of her humans being in with her little boy. She had a problem with her placenta and we took mama and baby into the clinic for precautionary flushing and care. All was well and they were home after several days.
I must thank my dear friend Andrea Hayden and her husband Michael for helping me with Diva and her baby boy. They own and very capably manage Prosperity Farm in Williston and will be foaling out my mares and raising the foals to weaning for me in the future, as my back no longer stands up to those tasks. Flamboyant was born at their farm and it is because of Andrea's attention to detail and high standard of care that we recognized Diva's problem quickly and got the care needed to make certain that she and the colt would remain healthy and well. Andrea and I will be partnering in quite a few exciting projects in the time to come.
We could not be more pleased with this colt and will definitely repeat the Florencio breeding someday. He has a wonderful temperament and his gaits are excellent. We plan to keep this boy until he has been started under saddle and then find the right show home for him, as he is very, very special.
